Spotted Today ...

... the phrase "very in-depth" ...

Is that first modifier useful in some way I fail to understand?

I, for one, am saddened to see someone pass on an opportunity for hyphenation (or, as the moderns might have it, dashitization). "In depth" is the jagoffardly asthmatic in-law of "In-depth."

You know, you're right, and I even thought about it, but shied - because I tend to get feedback that I over-punctuate (even if the punctuation is correct). The lesson here? Heck with the Guitarists at the back of the bar, whinging about my punctuation. I shall edit. (But first, a quick lie-down, as I have a head-ache).
